This occupies a semicircular valley surrounded by impressive lime outcrops. One of its biggest attractions is the continuing agricultural use and its position as a natural heritage site. Nature and rural life have lived together, and continue to do so in perfect harmony.
Particularly notable is the valley through which the Purón river passes, along with the woods of beech, pine and holm oak trees, which contrast with the pasture and cultivation land of the plains and the high rock faces. This flora is home to a wide variety of animals such as the wild boar, squirrel, roe buck and golden eagle. The biggest attraction, though, is undoubtedly the colony of Griffon vultures, the largest in the Basque Country, which has become the image of the reserve.
