This is one of the most singular landscapes in the Basque Country. It is a high plateau surrounded by mountains, with a beautiful valley with artificial caves dug into its rocks. The absence of settlements and the difficulty of access has allowed this area to remain almost entirely untransformed. It provides home to a rich abundance of fauna and flora, and counts on the largest reserve of Pyrenean Oak (Quercus pyrenaica) in Europe. These woods are the ideal habitat for species of wild animals. There is also a significant number of cattle and horses.
