IRAKATSI: Basque Educational Resources

Following our operative motto: Recreate + Educate = Perpetuate, the future of the Basque-American world will largely be decided by what is effectively communicated about the Basques.  Accordingly, there are multiple programs already in place, and several that are projected, that serve as viable means of educating people about the Basques.

CURRENT EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS:

ARANA MUSEUM EXHIBIT.  The Museum of  Basque Nationalism (in the Basque Country) is requesting any images (still or moving pictures, films, photographs…) and voice records of José Antonio Aguirre Lecube (1904-1960), first president of the Basque Government (from the 7th October until his death).  As a non-profit cultural foundation, they are trying to compile all the documents related to José Antonio Aguirre and his labor with the purpose of including them in a website so as to make easier the knowledge of the politician to whoever is interested in.  Contact euskal@abertzaletasunarenmuseoa.org (posted 10/15/2009)

ARGENTINA SUMMER STUDY COURSE.  We are pleased in informing you about our program Universidad Vasca de Verano 2010.  Its aim is to wake up feelings and build up knowledge about the people of our ancestors.  We believe this is a great opportunity to come to Buenos Aires, share experiences with other members of the Basque community abroad and improve the knowledge of Spanish as courses are taught in that language.  You can get more information from our website, http://www.euskalechea.esc.edu.ar/universidadVasca/infoGeneral2010.html (posted 10/15/2009)

BASQUE STONE SCULPTOR.  There is a stone sculptor willing to come over and produce a work of art, as well as providing educational opportunities, in exchange for hosting.  To find out more contact edergile@wanadoo.fr  (posted 10/19/2009)
