Soziolinguistika Klusterra arloko eragile guztiei dago zuzendua, eta bertan mota guztietako eragileek parte har dezakete: enpresak, unibertsitateak, erakunde publikoak, elkarteak... baita banakoek ere. Klusterrean parte hartzeko bertako bazkide izan behar da eta bertako arautegian definituriko betebeharrei erantzun (kideek urteko kuota bat ordaintzen dute, erakunde motaren arabera desberdina dena). Soziolinguistika Klusterrak bere zerbitzua nagusiki bazkideei eskaintzen die. Kide ez diren erakundeentzat ere egiten ditu lanak eta, oro har, sortzen duen informazioa eta produktuak erabilera publikorako zabaltzen ditu.
TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP: in the Sociolinguistics Cluster we draw a distinction between two types of members:
According to the statutes, all members have the same rights and obligations according to the law. But there are differences between the two types with respect to running the Cluster, participating in the projects and taking decisions in it:
- User Members These are members who pay a symbolic fee to participate in the Cluster’s work. Their participation in the projects run by the Cluster is restricted, as is their representation on the Governing Board (there is one delegate for all the User Members). On an information level, too, they generally receive direct information from the Cluster (concerning the institution), but as far as the projects are concerned, they are not entitled to receive all the information: this distinction is decided on a project-by-project basis.
- Promoter Members, on the other hand, pay the full fee to participate in the Cluster. They are fully entitled to sit on the Governing Board and are given priority to take part in the Cluster’s projects. On an information level, too, they can access all the information produced in the projects through the web site’s intranet as well as through other sources.
The following table details the annual fees payable by members of the Sociolinguistics Cluster:

The Promoter Members form the basis for the development of the Sociolinguistics Cluster, both through their financial contributions and through their involvement in the decisions affecting the projects and the Cluster itself. In this respect, organisations that join the Cluster are mainly Promoter Members and so they are advised by the Governing Board.(See appendix).
However, the Cluster is keen to give all kinds of organisations of any nature, size or type in the sociolinguistic field the opportunity to participate in its internal dynamics. That way those organisations that have a small structure or which lack the necessary economic resources have the chance to be User Members.
Nevertheless, any new organisation requires a certain time to gradually get involved in the dynamics of any association. New members naturally have the chance to start in the Cluster as Promoter Members. Those that prefer to start off as User Members, on the other hand, may choose this option for a year and later opt to become Promoter Members.
After a year has elapsed, if those members wish to continue to be User Members (for example, those that wish to be User Members on a permanent basis), the organisation in question will have to submit the corresponding request to the Cluster’s Governing Board to continue as a User Member, and submit reasons.
Private individuals are a special case within the Cluster. The Cluster’s members are mainly legal entities (all kinds of organisations), but private individuals also have the chance to be members. Private individuals who join are User Members.
