Course Description
The second year of Basque language study includes a structural review, conversation, and writing. It also includes further work with the unique structure of the Basque verb and system of suffixes. The classroom-taught course will in general follow the syllabus, allowing for differences in learning styles of each class.

General Syllabus

Lesson One
Simple past (preterite) of izan, Nor forms, and talking about the “distant” past
Ari nintzen (past progressive)

Lesson Two
Simple past (preterit) of izan, Nor forms. Identification and transformation from present to past and past to present.

Lesson Three
Simple past (preterit) of egon.

Lesson Four
More practice with the simple past (preterit) of izan and egon.

Lesson Five
Simple past (preterit) of ukan (Nor-Nork) and talking about the “distant” past with third-person singular objects (it, him, her)

Lesson Six
Simple past (preterit) of ukan (Nor-Nork) and talking about the “distant” past with third-person plural objects (them)

Lesson Seven
Simple past (preterit) of ukan (Nor-nork). Identification and transformation from present to past and past to present.

Lesson Eight
More practice with the simple past (preterit) of ukan (Nor-Nork)
Bigger, biggest, and too big: comparatives (-ago, -en, -egi)

Lesson Nine
Simple past of ukan and izan, and the habitual past
More ways to make comparisons (using adverbs; saying “as... as...”).

Preterite of eduki with singular and plural third-person objects
