Richard P. Gabica

Ricardo Pedro Gabica was born in 1914 at Reynold's Creek Ranch in Idaho.  His parents, Elias Gabicagoxeascoa Echaniz and Valentina Uberuaga Azcuenaga, were immigrants from Bizkaia.   He is also the grand-nephew of Antonio Azcuenaga, early settler of Jordan Valley, Oregon. He grew up in Nampa, Idaho where he became known as Richard or Dick.  Richard attended St. Paul's School and later Nampa High.

Richard worked in the sheep business with his father and later became a successful cattle rancher.

In his interview Richard talks about his family history, growing up in Nampa, and the lifestyle of Basque sheepherders, and the sheep industry during the Great Depression.
