The most practical and simplest information is available on the following subjects:

  • ¿How much has the CPI varied since…? This option provides a very simple programme to calculate the CPI variation between two periods for the A.C. of the Basque Country and for the State
  • ¿What months need to be included to calculate the CPI variation for a full year?  Do the initial and final months need to be repeated? To consider a period of 12 months, the initial month and the final month must be the same. In other words, if we wish to  calculate the annual variation experimented by the CPI in September 2004 we must compare September 2003 with September 2004 (12 months), and not August 2003 with September 2004 (13 months), nor October 2003 with September 2004 (11 months). This must be done in this manner because the indices refer to the last day of the month. Therefore, by considering September 2003 this month would not be included within the calculation, but September 2004 would be.
  • What period should be selected to obtain the variation for the natural year? The natural year is obtained by considering the period  December - December. The explanation of why this needs to be done in this manner is found in the previous section.
  • ¿Do you wish to update a rental income?  This option calculates, solely at State level, the update of a rental income with the CPI of the selected month, by simply introducing the amount to be updated, the month and the years of interest.
  • Consumer Price Index (CPI).  Detailed information The detailed results of the general CPI and for groups, at state level and for the A.C. of the Basque Country.

The Consumer Price Index (IPC) offers a statistical measurement of the conjunctural evolution of the set of prices of the goods and services consumed by families and that are acquired at normal prices, in certain functions of consumption. The source of information is the monthly state-wide statistics produced by the INE. It offers both a general index and a price index by group of products or services, either for the State as a whole or for the Basque Country; it disseminates the annual averages and also the variations or increases between reference periods.
