"NOW AND THEN" BUILDING (Located
downtown Jordan Valley)
Jordan Valley Owyhee Heritage Council aka JVOHC Parent
Company of the I.O.N. Heritage Museum
JVOHC Board of Directors share a vision and desire to provide a heritage
Museum in which to display artifacts, photos, oral histories, folk art, and unique geological finds collected
throughout the region and or passed down from generation to generation.
The Council was formed in January of 2002. Members of the
JVOHC designed and opened The Jordan Valley “Now &
Then” Building in 2003, as an interim building, until the Museum opened its doors to the public. It is designed in a showcasing format located in downtown Jordan Valley. Displayed are historical artifacts and
regional fine art and buckaroo gear. The
showcase has been a success with many supporters from the local community, travelers, and tourists. However, because of limited space, lighting, and other conditions necessary
for archival preservation underscored the need for a more suitable site.
The new Museum, the old Elorriaga Home and Basque boarding house of Jordan Valley, is now finally
opened and is providing an incredible opportunity to be used as interpretive center, community hub, and historical
education center; Hopefully, ultimately increasing the awareness and appreciation for our local history and
generating job opportunities, development, and revenue for our
community.
