Average translation rates - 2009
General remarks
- These are the translation rates established by EIZIE (the Association of Translators, Correctors and Interpreters of the Basque Language) to be used as a reference for determining fair and reasonable rates for translation.
- These rates are appropriate for written translation work, oral interpreting work, and for text correction.
- These rates are binding neither on the translator nor on the customer.
- With respect to translation work not specifically covered in this document, such us specialized translation jobs, corrections, etc., we recommend that our members should reach an agreement on the rate with the customer prior to undertaking the work in question.
- EIZIE reviews and revises these rates on an annual basis.
- All rates are given in euros.

- In order to calculate the price of a translation job, the rates below are to be applied to the document translated into the target language.
- The minimum unit for translating a document is the page, even if the translated text is less than a page.

3 - Text correction work
The EIZIE does not make any recommendations regarding text correction work in recognition of the infinite complexity and a myriad of factors that it can pose. Instead, we strongly recommend that our members should come to a pre-job agreement with the customer regarding the price and other specific conditions (type of correction required, by when the work is to be done, etc.).
1 A payment is considered prompt if paid 2 weeks after receiving the invoice.
2 These amounts stand for net, tax-free payment. The expenses are established for Spain.
