The shipyard first started its production activities in the 19th century. They have their origin in the saga of the Etxaniz, whose work was carried on by the Muruaga family and at present by the Mendieta brothers.
The shipyard has been moved several times during its existence, firstly in the river Artigas, later on the cliffs of Txibitxaga, and now in the drydocks of Artza whehre it remains today.
