CEPES – THE SPANISH SOCIAL ECONOMY BUSINESS CONFEDERATION

This is the highest body representing the Social Economy in the Spain and has been set up as a platform for institutional dialogue with the authorities.

The families in the Social Economy:

  • Cooperatives
  • Worker-owned Enterprises
  • Friendly Societies
  • Foundations
  • Insertion Enterprises
  • Special Employment Centres

This body embraces different organisations from a range of sectors, although they all form part of the Social Economy. There are 23 members belonging to the CEPES organised by the autonomous communities into over 200 support structures. They are the highest representatives in the various legal formulae of the Social Economy. They are National or Autonomous Community Confederations or specific business groups involved in this way of setting up enterprises. The most important aims of this body include integrating the whole Social Economy sector, representing it and acting as its interlocutor in the various institutions.
