Manuel Irujo Lecture in Liverpool

2013-11-29 The Etxepare Basque Institute and the University of Liverpool have organized the first Manuel Irujo Lecture at the university. The lecture, held yesterday, brought toghether Mari Jose Olaziregi, Director for the Diffusion and Promotion of Basque Language of the Institute, University responsibles, Irujo’s relatives, Professor Ludger Mess, writer Iban Zaldua and the Associate Professor of the Center for the Basque Studies at the University of Nevada Xabier Irujo Ametzaga -the latter by video conference-. In addition, they offered an audiovisual about the life of Irujo and realized a visit to the Manuel Irujo’s London and Paris exile books, recently doanted to the University by the family. Ramon Barea, Theater National Prize

Basque Culture takes Brussels!

2013-11-27 This year the Etxepare Basque Institute will celebrate the Basque Language Day (December 3) in Brussels. The Institute and the Fédération des Jeunesses Musicales Wallonie-Bruxelles have produced the program “Fenêtre Ouverte sur le Pays Basque”, that aims to present the diversity of our culture and  different forms of Basque artistic expression. The program, that has already begun, will be held until December 4 in Brussels and other spots Wallonia.

Etxepare Basque Institute at the MICAtlántica Fair

2013-11-25 The Etxepare Basque Institute attended last weekend the MICAtlántica, first Market of Atlantic Cultural Industries, in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia). The event, organized by the Secretary of Culture of Argentina and the Xunta of Galicia, aims to guide the exchange of cultural industries on both sides of the ocean. In this context, the director of the Etxepare Institute, Aizpea Goenaga, presented the organization project and the work it carries out in order to promote Basque cultural industries abroad; she also had the chance to create new links for the internationalization of our culture.

That Tiny Playful God in New York: expect anything zoragarria

2013-11-13 The Basque poet Kirmen Uribe, the musicians Mikel Urdangarin, Rafa Rueda, and Bingen Mendizabal and the visual artist Mikel Valverde will premiere their new multimedia presentation That Tiny Playful God –combining poetry, song, and projections- at the Bowery Arts and Science  in New York, Even The New Yorker magazines recommends it!. The poet Elizabeth Macklin, who did the English translations, says to expect “anything zoragarria—enchanting in the most literal sense-.”
