BEO - Basque Culture Day 2015

The tenth edition of Basque Cultural Day will feature “the Basque game par excellence,” Basque Pilota. The day will include presentations by distinguished speakers, video and photo presentations, Frontball exhibition matches by the top players in the world and finally a great BCC dinner! Admission to the program is free of charge with the exception of the evening dinner.

HITZALDI ZATI BAT - Presentations - 1:00pm-4:15pm The following distinguished speakers will be featured:

Xabier Berrueta 1:00pm	Xabier Berrueta, president of the U.S. Federation of Pilota, will present the origins and history of Basque Pilota.

Iker Saitua 2:00pm	I ker Saitua, Ph.D. candidate at the Center for Basque Studies at UNR, will discuss Basque Pilota & its impact on Basque culture and identity.

Jean Michel Idiart 3:15pm	Jean Michel Idiart, the creator and promotor of The Frontball Pro Tour, will discuss Basque Pilota’s latest discipline, its history and its potential impact on urban society.

FRONTBALL ZATI BAT - Frontball Exhibitions 4:30pm-6:00pm

The BEO and Basque Cultural Center present the top Frontball players in the world for the Frontball exhibiton. Each match will be a best two of three sets, with each set consisting of 15 points.

A Rematch of the 2015 World Championships

AFARIA ZATI BAT - Dinner - 7:00pm

The day's presentations will conclude with a six course dinner at the Basque Cultural Center, 7:00pm. Please make your pre-paid reservations by mailing a check, payable to the “BEO”, to BEO, P.O. Box 31861, San Francisco, CA 94131-0861, by October 28th. The cost is $40 per person and includes a complimentary raffle ticket for prizes (children under 12 $10).
