Here is a clip from Nomadak TX Live in Gasteiz (Basque Country) in 2009:
Following the success of their award-winning documentary, Nömadak Tx, the Basque txalaparta team Oreka Tx now bring their culture-crossing rhythmic journey to the concert stage.
In 2004, Harkaitz Martinez de San Vicente and Igor Otxoa began traveling to far-flung nomadic societies, using their txalaparta as a point of encounter and collaborating with musicians from Mongolia to Sahara, from Lapland to India. The film documenting this journey was released in 2007 to international acclaim.
Nömadak Tx Live takes the encounter to the next level. With the film projected behind them, Oreka Tx ensemble perform a live sound track that blends with that of the film. The screen itself becomes a huge window onto the world and the audience is offered an intimate glimpse into lives, music and landscapes across the globe.
The result is an exhilarating multi-media and multi-cultural experience. And at the center of it all is the txalaparta, mythic symbol of Basque culture, driving the rhythm and tying it all together.
